Quansor, Inc., a start-up company based in Richmond, KY, has received an NSF-SBIR award for the development of real-time arsenic sensors with Prof. David Atwood in the Department of Chemistry.” The company ultimately intends to produce inexpensive, portable, real-time sensors for a wide variety of aqueous contaminants including arsenic, heavy metals, organics, biologicals, and water treatment byproducts. Atwood will create compounds that specifically bind each contaminant and will integrate these compounds into the Quansor sensing platform.
